Common Core 5th Grade Language Arts: Reading & Writing Standards

Language Arts
Mrs. K's Class
In writing we are working on narrative pieces.

The students will be selecting different small moments to create multi-paragraph works. They will have independent time and I will be modeling and working as a class on a piece together for practice. The students will also work in groups to peer edit and then write their final draft. Students will have multiple opportunities to share their work aloud in class and show their writing on the doc camera and choose the work they would like displayed on our class writing wall.

There are two opportunities for extra credit. One will be a book report option that the students will briefly share in class. The other, will be a non fiction report. We will go over these options in class and the forms will be kept where students can access them whenever they like. These extra credit options are to be completed at home, not in class. They will be for minimal points.
